Do you help people who have disabilities other than blindness or low vision?

Yes.  We work with people who have any type of disability.

Was your organization formerly called the Vision Center of Central Ohio?

Yes. We changed our name to Vision & Vocational Services in 2005 to better reflect our dual focus—vision and vocational programs—as well as our expanded geographical presence—all of Ohio.

Do you serve all counties in Ohio?

We have the ability to work with people from any county in Ohio Some years we serve people in all 88 counties, and most years we come close.

If I am not located in Franklin County, can I get help from your Franklin County location?

We have people who are located throughout Ohio that can assist those who live in other counties. We also have staff that we can send out from our Franklin County location, depending on what service is needed. 

My company is interested in hiring people with disabilities. Where do I get more information about your job placement programs?

We are always in search of employers to hire our clients.  Please call our job placement department for more information.

How can I volunteer my services to your organization?

We have a variety of volunteer positions available.  Please contact our volunteer coordinator. 

Do you offer low vision aids?

We have a large selection of visual aids, ranging from different types of magnifiers and lights, to kitchen aids, talking watches, and other items.  Please contact our inventory department for more information.

Do you offer aids to those with disabilities other than blindness or low vision?

We are looking at this as a future new direction.

Are there assistance programs to help pay for low vision aids?

Depending on your situation, there may be assistance available to pay for low vision aids.  Please call the agency for more information.

How can one find out the cost of your low vision aids?

I don’t have a job or insurance and I don’t know what to do or where to start. Can you help me or refer me to an organization that can help me?

Each individual situation is a little different.  Frequently, the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission will help a person with a disability to become employed.  For specific information about your situation, please contact us.

Does your organization help with job placement?

Yes.  We specialize in helping people with disabilities find jobs in which they will be successful. 

Do you offer assistance to those having difficulty in their job due to a disability?

Yes.  We are available for “job saves” when a disability is interfering with your ability to work at your current job. 

Do you offer job coaching?

We frequently have job coaches available to assist people with transitions in the workplace.

Can you help me find a way to use a computer and the Internet?

We currently offer computer adaptive training for people who are blind or have low vision.

I have to move to another state. Do you have centers in other states or can you refer me to similar organizations?

Vision & Vocational Services only has a presence in the state of Ohio We are a statewide, grassroots organization, and are not a part of a national affiliate.  There are other organizations throughout the country that provide services to the blind and visually impaired, as well as agencies that provide vocational services to people with any disabilities.  Please search online or in local phone books for further information.

Are there any other places that offer the vision rehabilitation services you do?

There are no other organizations in Central Ohio that offer the comprehensive, individualized vision rehabilitation services that Vision & Vocational Services offers.  

Do you offer assistance and/or training to those who would like to live more independently?

Absolutely.  That is our mission.  We are not able to fully represent all our services on this Web site, so if you don’t see something that you think will help you in your situation, please contact us to find out how we might be able to assist you. 

Do you offer vision evaluations? Can you advise me about what might best help improve my vision?

We offer vision evaluations for people who have been diagnosed with a visual impairment.  With an individualized evaluation and helpful low vision aids, our professional vision staff will help you to maximize your remaining vision. 

Can you offer help with finding a place to live?

Absolutely.  We know that people with disabilities have special needs when looking for a home. We have a relocation program that is available to assist you with those needs.

Do you offer assistance to those who would like to drive?

We offer driver’s training for people with disabilities.  Please call the agency for more information.
