Memorials and Tributes

Consider honoring your loved ones who have passed away with a donation to Vision & Vocational Services.  Knowing that the donation will help people with visual and other disabilities increase their independence will be a lasting tribute.  Take Judy Norton (name changed for privacy), for example.  As her vision became increasingly spotty from a progressive eye disease, she was able to do less and less in her home.  A staff member from Vision & Vocational Services came to her home and set up lighting so that she could continue to read the newspaper and rearranged her furniture and lighting to maximize Judy’s ability to watch television.  She was given a lighted magnifier that helped her to read the menu when she went out to eat.  So many things in her life were able to remain relatively normal because of the help that she received from Vision & Vocational Services staff and the aids that they provided.  Judy’s family knew how much Vision & Vocational Services meant to her and her independence, and so when she passed away, they asked that donations be sent to our agency in her memory.

When you have donations sent to Vision & Vocational Services in memory of a friend or family member who has passed away, you may rest assured knowing these donations will make it possible for others to experience the quality services that have benefitted so many before.  Letters will be sent to donors to acknowledge all gifts, as well as to the bereaved family to let them know how important their decision to honor their loved one has been to the people our agency serves.

Tributes may also be made in honor of a special day, such as a birth, birthday, or anniversary.  A letter acknowledging the gift is sent and will not indicate the monetary value of the gift.
