Bioptic Driving
Qualified people with disabilities perform assembly, packaging, and inspection tasks for local employers.
Bioptic Driving is a program offered in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Public Safety; through it, qualified individuals are trained to drive with the aid of a specialized telescope.
This program evaluates and trains individuals with low vision to drive with the aid of bioptic telescope spectacles. The telescopes of these special glasses are placed above the line of sight and are used for identifying informational signs in the driving environment. Candidates for this program must have stable eye conditions and are carefully screened to determine eligibility.
